The summer exhibitions at Kuopio Art Museum have come to an end after a successful summer. The exhibitions have so far attracted more than 30 000 visitors, confirming the museum’s position as one of Kuopio’s most appealing cultural attractions. The exhibition of Finnish ceramic art, Paradise, attracted as many as 13 000 visitors to the museum.
Anna Vilkuna, Director of the art museum, sees the visitor numbers as proof of a successful strategy, which focuses on accessibility and experiences: “We wanted to present ceramic art in Paradise from a new perspective. We received exceptionally good feedback on the exhibition. The Sauma exhibition was also perceived by the customers as interesting and versatile.”
The Kuopio art museum’s summer exhibitions featured classics of art ceramics and the most interesting contemporary ceramic artists in the Paradise exhibition, and the encounters between fashion and art in the Seam exhibition, produced in collaboration with Savonia University of Applied Sciences. The exhibitions provided a rich experience and their colourful and inspiring content was widely praised by the public.
Vilkuna says that although this year’s exhibitions have attracted more visitors than before, the museum aims to meet visitors’ expectations even more effectively and diversely. “We are preparing a new main exhibition and a new public space, Olotila, to accompany it. Before they open, there will be plenty more to come: new interpretations of comics, modern Finnish art and magic.”
We would like to thank everyone who visited the summer exhibitions! Welcome back to the Art Museum after the renovation on 11 of October 2024.
